I. Introduction and Guide Scope

Welcome to the Soul Linker leveling guide!

The Soul Linker is one of the possible 2nd job advancements for the Taekwon class. Diverting from their initial Taekwon training using stances and kicks, they focus on the energy brought about by the spirits of this world. They hone their new gifts by bestowing Spirit Link buffs on their allies and releasing spiritual energy at their opponents. If you wish to explore one’s spiritual prowess as a Soul Linker, this leveling guide will be a great supplement to give you an idea on how to begin your journey as one!

This guide will contain the basics of what you need to know about leveling a Soul Linker – which stats to invest in, what monsters to target, what loot to look out for and some possible tips and tricks that you may find useful. Do note that this guide is not in absolution and is not required to follow by the letter. You as a young Soul Linker have free range on how to traverse and explore the ups and downs of your characters, and may this guide at least provide you some options that you may deem beneficial with that.

II. Stat Breakdown

STR: Boosts ATK and increases max weight limit; unless making a Melee CRIT Linker, only invest for some weight capacity

AGI: Provides FLEE and ASPD; useful for Melee CRIT Linkers or caster-types to both dodge attacks and spam spells

VIT: Boosts HP, HP RECOVERY, DEF, resistance to STAT AILMENTS and increases healing amount of HP POTIONS; useful for tanking

INT: Boosts MATK, Esma Linker’s main DPS stat; also boosts SP, SP RECOVERY, MDEF and increases healing amount of SP POTIONS

DEX: Decreases VARIABLE CAST TIME (not to be confused with FIXED Cast Time), allowing Soul Linkers to release spells faster; also slightly increases MATK

LUK: Increases CRIT (minimal investment needed if already using a Dagger of Counter), and slightly increases ATK, MATK and PERFECT DODGE

III. Possible Soul Linker Stat Builds

A. Esma (Bolter) Soul Linker

High INT and DEX, mid to low AGI or VIT

Innate in handling spiritual energy, Soul Linkers’ main offensive spells come in the form of their Es- skills. They deal significant single target magic damage with their Estin/Estun + Esma combo, with the latter incorporating the element from the currently active Mild Wind buff. Soul Linkers who take up this build will need to invest on high INT and DEX for MATK and variable cast time (VCT) reduction respectively, as well as their preference of either AGI for FLEE/ASPD or VIT for HP and status ailment immunity.

B. Tank Support Soul Linker

High DEX and VIT, mid INT

Soul Linkers have been known to be useful characters in various teams. Whether they provide Spirit Buffs to their party mates or act as Kaite debuffers in PvP, they can shift their attention from dealing damage to playing a more supportive role. These types of Linkers usually invest on high amounts of VIT for HP and status ailment immunity, as well as DEX to ensure faster casting. Some investment in INT not only aids in reducing VCT, but also provides a substantial SP pool for the Linker to use.

C. Melee CRIT Soul Linker

High AGI, high to moderately high STR, mid to low LUK

A bit unconventional but somehow doable, the CRIT Soul Linker further segways from the traditional magic caster and faces foes head on. Being one of the only classes which can wield the Dagger of Counter, Linkers can opt for a Physical CRIT build, with high amounts of AGI for FLEE and ASPD, using melee attacks with elemental advantage due to Mild Wind.

High: 99-80Moderately High: 9-61
Mid: 60-31Low: 30-1

IV. Gear and KP Preparation (+F2P Options)

Before proceeding with your Taekwon, one may opt to have some items prepared to help ease with leveling. These items are not required, but getting the best amount of EXP possible will definitely be worth the investment. Below is a list of sample gear and consumables that you may consider acquiring beforehand to ease up the leveling process:

VII. Soul Linker Job Change

  1. Taekwons with Job levels between 40 to 50 can proceed to change into a Soul Linker. It is highly recommended (especially to new players) to level up to Job 50 to have the most first job skill points available before changing jobs. Once you’ve decided to change job, prepare Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (60)1x Witherless Rose, Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (61)1x Immortal Heart and Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (62)1x 3carat Diamond.

  1. Speak to the Kid who will ask for the items you prepared. She will continue telling her story after you hand her the items.
  1. After the conversation, speak to her again, and she will guide you inside your mind, where you will need to interact and listen to the stories of three Spirit NPCs: an Alchemist Spirit, a Monk Spirit and a Sage Spirit.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (65)
  1. After listening to their requests, speak to the Kid once again. Embracing the Spirits’ requests, you will successfully job change into a Soul Linker.

VIII. Taekwon and Soul Linker Skills for Leveling

Before diving into the specifics, it is important to know that Soul Linkers have a unique set of skills. Aside from their class-specific Spirit Link buffs that some players may know more of, they also possess two types of skills in their kit: Es- and Ka- skills.

Es- Skills are the spells with the “Es” prefix in them (ex: Esma, Eske, Eswoo). These spells can only be cast on Monster targets, with some spells having additional conditions to fully utilize them. Estin, for example, has a knockback effect on monsters, but only deals damage if the target is small-sized. Despite naturally being able to target other players in PvP environment such as in War of Emperium, Es- skills cannot be used on them.

Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (66)

Ka- skills, on the other hand, are unique spells with the “Ka” prefix in them (ex: Kaupe, Kaite, Kaahi). These by default can only be casted on oneself, other Soul Linkers and spouses/children. Soul Linker Spirit buff on the caster is required if one wishes to cast it onto players, such as Kaite offensively being bestowed on enemies in PvP or Kaupe on tanks during party play. Attempting to apply the skill on any other target will fail and, for some spells, may leave the Soul Linker stunned for a few seconds.

Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (67)

Keep in mind the differences between Es- and Ka- spells, and to give them some thought before investing points and incorporating them into one’s build. With that being said, here are some notable skills to consider using for leveling your Taekwon and Soul Linker:

Skill NameDescription and Analysis
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (68)
Sprint
Commands the Taekwon to run forward in a straight line until the skill is pressed again or after colliding with an obstacle or stationary player/monster, great for fast mobility. Pressing the skill again right after the character starts sprinting will grant the “Spurt” buff, which temporarily increases STR for a set duration. While unarmed, the skill passively grants +10 ATK per skill level invested, making it a great first skill option for leveling.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (69)
Flying Kick
Immediately flies towards a target’s location and kicking them for damage, which is further boosted while under the Spurt state from Sprint. Nice early leveling + mobility skill for Taekwons. Cannot be used by Soul Linkers, but instead invested on as pre-requisite for Tumbling skill.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (70)
Kihop
Increases damage dealt by normal attacks and physical skills depending on the number of party members online and present in the same map as the Taekwon (at max level, +10% per party member). Learned as pre-requisite for Mild Wind, but great to utilize especially when party leveling.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (71)
Mild Wind
Changes the element of your weapon to either Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, Ghost, Shadow or Holy. Will also change the property of Estin, Estun and Esma into the aforementioned elements. Provides great advantage when facing monsters of various elements.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (72)Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (73)
Estin / Estun
Single-target magic spells. Estin knocks back opponents by 2 cells, with additional damage vs Small-size targets. Estun has a chance to stun opponents, with additional damage vs Medium-size targets. Casting Lv7 of either one allows the user to follow up with casting Esma.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (74)
Esma
Magic-type Soul Linker’s main leveling “Bolt” spell. Unleashes 1~10 hits of Neutral element magic damage, which is overwritten by the element of the active Mild Wind buff. Can only be casted within 3 seconds after using Estin, Estun or Eske.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (75)
Kaina
Provides additional Base SP to the Soul Linker. At specific Base Levels, will also decrease the SP cost of Estin, Estun and Esma. Soul Linkers who wish to utilize these magic spells are highly encouraged to invest on Kaina to reduce their SP costs.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (76)
Kaupe
Bestows a buff which allows the player to dodge a single attack or spell. Nice to have up for emergencies when facing opponents with hard-hitting skills.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (77)
Kaahi
Buff which restores 200~1400 HP (depending on skill level) at the cost of SP every time the user is hit with a normal attack. HP is restored before the damage is inflicted, and does not work when HP is still full. Excellent leveling buff to save on HP Potions especially if SP restoration isn’t an issue.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (78)
Kaizel
Places a buff which instantly revives the user after falling incapacitated. Revived players will have a 2-second Kyrie Eleison buff on them. Does not prevent EXP loss. Optional but great buff to have as it lasts for 30 minutes and saves up on using Token of Siegfried or relying on a Priest to resurrect you.

X. The World Bounty Repeatable Quests and Boong Boong Drinks

Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (110)

Introduced in the Sept 2023 patch, World Bounty is a set of repeatable quests the player can accept, turn-in and reset in order to speed up the leveling process than just normally grinding monsters or doing Eden’s Daily Mission Board Quests. In various cities and towns, the NPC Magical Boy will teleport you to maps with bounty boards available, depending on your current location, at the cost of Boong Boong Drinks. These can be bought at the fixed cost of 100z from the Boong Boong V. Machine nearby. It is advised to bring a couple of them if you wish to grind for a good amount of time in bounty maps (around 500-1000), or have them in your storage which you can access via Kafra Card or Kafra Bell.

Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (111)

These drinks can also be used to reset the quest cooldown of bounty boards when you have finished turning in your quests. Depending on the bounty, simply talk to the board and bring the correct number of Boong Boong Drinks to refresh the cooldown. Afterwards, you may accept the bounty quest and kill monsters once again. More details about the World Bounty System may be viewed through the link below:

World Bounty System

XI. Dual Client Partymates (Optional)

Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (112)

Whether your Soul Linker is built as a DPS or a support, one’s grinding experience can further grow through party play. With Ragnarok GGH’s multi-client feature, you are given the opportunity to login another character who can either support or deal the damage for you. Here are some optional classes to have in an alternate account should you decide to help boost your Soul Linker’s leveling experience:

  • Priest (for heals, buffs and warps; most preferably Archbishop for Sacrament, a buff which reduces Fixed Cast Time by as much as 50%)
  • Bard and/or Dancer (for Magic Strings, Gypsy’s Kiss and Mental Sensing)
  • Alchemist (for higher SP recovered via Potion Pitcher + paired with Alchemist Spirit)
  • Any DPS character (for leeching or carrying your Support-type Soul Linker; preferably classes like Rune Knights, Royal Guards, Rangers, Warlocks or any job with AoE spells)
  • Scholar Spouse (if utilizing Kaahi, can have the Scholar cast Soul Exhale to instantly replenish your Linker’s SP)

XII. Additional Tips and Tricks

  1. Consider investing points into Sprint during the early levels as Taekwon. When unarmed, the skill works as a passive which increases ATK by 10 per skill level, making it easier to fight low-level mobs, even on builds with little to no STR.
  2. Keep a lookout for some important loot that you can sell at a fair price to players looking for them (refer to the items listed at the different leveling brackets above). These are either used by other classes as catalysts for their skills, requirements for specific quests or items for Eden Supply Manager’s turn-ins.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (113)
  1. Naturally, Soul Linkers are immune from being dispelled, making it easy to grind in maps with monsters which normally cast it (ex: Teddy Bears in Einbroch Field/Einbech Mines).
  2. Soul Linkers leveling solo have the option to take at least Lv1 Kaizel, a buff which instantly revives the user upon death. This helps save up the usage of Token of Siegfried for instant revival.
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (114)
  1. Given the limited number of skill points, Soul Linkers need to think through which Spirit Link spells to learn. It is okay not to take all of them, and to just focus on the Spirit Link spells which you will end up using (ex: Rogue Spirit for Shadow Chasers playing WoE).
Soul Linker Leveling Guide - THE ROGGH LIBRARY (115)

XIII. Epilogue

At times, spiritual and mental growth are needed for oneself. It is when you learn to accept yourself (strengths, flaws and all) that makes it possible to grow as an individual. We hope this guide has become informative to you, and that you have become more knowledgeable on how to effectively progress with leveling your Soul Linker. Should you have any questions, please leave a comment below or visit us over at the GGH Discord. Best wishes and happy leveling!
